Slipping In-Person Film Premiere at Fall for Dance North

Slipping, a film collaboration co-directed and co-produced by Karen Kaeja and Roshanak Jaberi, will premiere in the 2022 Fall for Dance North Festival in 8-Count, their new short film series. Slipping is an intimate journey of four women’s lives, as they slip between emotional and psychological torment. The characters coexist through their unfolding stories in a century-old mansion. Their only link to reality is each other.Conceived and filmed in rural Quebec with an all-female team, co-directors Roshanak and Karen set out to merge their artistic voices. The fictional and haunting narrative of Slipping was shot through the lens of cinematographer Olya Glotka, and scored by Edgardo Moreno.

Slipping will have two in-person screenings during the festival – September 23rd at 7:30pm at the Betty Oliphant Theatre and September 24th at 2:00pm at Ivan Fecan Theatre at York University. It will then be available to view online on the Fall For Dance North website from September 24th to October 8th. Tickets for 8-Count are now on sale and can be purchased online.

TouchX // I am the Child of… Live Performance Premiere at Harbourfront Centre in Fall 2022

Kaeja celebrates our 31st Anniversary with two new dance works created by our Artistic Directors. Grounded in memory, Karen Kaeja’s TouchX and Allen Kaeja’s I am the Child of… investigate the complexity of our lived experiences. Community, perspective and a fascinating take on augmented reality technology generate evocative worlds in this double-bill show. With over 25 collaborators, these works devise movement from deeply personal stories, examining the universal power of reflection, resilience, and touch.

TouchX is a multi-sensory world of what remains in the body through wanted and unwanted touch, embodied by dancers and everyday folk who bring to reality the beauty of when our hearts have been touched.

I am the Child of… is a multimedia/Augmented Reality dance production that embodies childhood memories from various perspectives; the experience is ever-changing and different within every performance.
