Porch View Dances: Lakeshore Arts
Lakeshore Arts was a Porch View Dances licensee in 2017, when they partnered with us to present Porch View Dances Long Branch in Etobicoke. After a successful festival that connected and engaged the community, Lakeshore Arts went on to produce PVD New Toronto in 2018 and PVD Mimico in 2019.
The Lakeshore Arts Porch View Dances festivals were very similar to the original renditions in Seaton Village – a neighbourhood tour with stops that featured everyday community members dancing pieces created in collaboration with professional choreographers. There were also smaller vignette performances along the route performed by professional dancers, and the program concluded with the traditional Flock Landing, an inclusive participatory group dance.
In 2020, Lakeshore Arts was unable to present an in-person Porch View Dances due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, they created PVD2020: Reflections on the Lakeshore, a virtual rendition of PVD that took the audience through memories from the last three years of Porch View Dances.
