Black Excellence – Brayden Cairns

February is Black History Month. To honour Black excellence in the dance community, we’re spreading the word about some amazing Black artists and their upcoming events and creations. Today we’re highlighting Brayden Cairns.

Brayden is currently in rehearsals for Sex Dalmatian as a member of Rock Bottom Movement. The work will be performed at Citadel + Compagnie March 3-11, and all five dancers play the titular character, rotating parts each episode to decentralize a single identity as a lead character.

Brayden recently performed in the world premiere of Karen’s TouchX this past November as PART OF TORQUE Contemporary Dance Series 2022, thanks to the RBC Emerging Artist program.
