between series

The between series: between snow and sky & between sun and sand are two “miniature works” that first premiered at the Battery Dance Festival. In an attempt to find light and flight during the pandemic, Kaeja filmed the series outdoors in two different seasons, which reflects the environs named in their titles. Through the between series, Kaeja invites the audience to take a moment to breathe and face the interlude of life by taking in the natural world.

between snow and sky was shot in a field of snow near the icy shores of Saugeen Nations, South Bruce Peninsula in the winter of 2021. As the two dancers bundle up in the cold, they dance closely to fight against the winter that surrounds them. The film was shot by their thirteen-year-old niece, Talia Tsarfati, and the music was composed specifically for the work by Christina Litt Belch.

between sun and sand was also shot on the shores of Saugeen Nations, South Bruce Peninsula but instead, this film captures the beachside with a glorious sunset and embraces a moment in time during the COVID 2020 summer. For this work, the music was composed by Edgardo Moreno.
